About the Business
The Office
of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence leads the South Australian Government’s
response to domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV).
- It coordinates policy
development,
- provides a coordination role for
DFSV across government,
- engages with stakeholders to
design and implement system change, and
- ensures lived experience voices
are embedded in service design and decision-making.
The Office
of DFSV is the coordinating response unit between the South Australian
Government and the Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence
(Royal Commission).
The Strategy
and Governance directorate within the Office of Domestic, Family and Sexual
Violence (DFSV) is responsible for developing and implementing statewide
strategic policy and advocating and influencing national policy. The
Directorate is also responsible for commissioning, funding and corporate
governance. The Directorate sits within the Office of DFSV which works across
government to ensure people of all ages, abilities and identities are safe,
respected, and supported to be free from the experience and use of domestic,
family and sexual violence.
Role Details
The Director, Strategy and Governance is a role within the Office of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) and is accountable to the Executive Director, DFSV for:
• Setting the strategic direction for DFSV responses, including leading the development and implementation of policies, legislation, and initiatives that are aimed at ensuring people of all ages, abilities and identities are safe, respected, and supported to be free from the experience and use of DFSV.
• Providing expert advice and high-level support to the Minister, Chief Executive, Executive Director, and other stakeholders to influence systemic change and intergovernmental priorities.
• Overseeing the delivery of major funding and service initiatives to address domestic, family, and sexual violence, ensuring accountability and measurable outcomes.
• Building and maintaining strong partnerships across government, industry, and the community to align state strategic efforts with the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022-2032 and Our Ways – Strong Ways – Our Voices: National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Plan to End Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence 2026–2036.

Screening Checks
If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check,
which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the
South Australia Police
or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body.
If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS,
including periodic assessment during your employment.
