About the Business

Our Community and Aboriginal Partnerships Division helps to build community safety and wellbeing by providing support and services to children, young people and families, including those involved with the youth justice system, remote Aboriginal communities, people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and people with complex and exceptional needs. The division also leads the department's Closing the Gap efforts. 

Role Details

The Senior Occupational Therapist is a role within the Assessment and Intervention Unit and is accountable to the Lead Psychologist for:
• providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention, with individuals and groups with complex needs
• providing leadership in the discipline of occupational therapy both within and external to Youth Justice
• contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to meet the complex and varied needs of young people under the supervision of Youth Justice
• contributing to practice improvement and service development within the Assessment and Intervention unit and across the Communities and Family Services Division
• contributing to planning, program management and resource management in the Assessment and Intervention Unit within Youth Justice. 

Special Conditions

• National Police Check required.
• Employment-related Screening Check required.
• Some out of hours work may be required.
• Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
• Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).

Essential Qualifications
Incumbent must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent full registration as an occupational therapist by the occupational therapy Board of Australia (OTBA) and must hold a current registration through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
