About the Business

Our Community and Aboriginal Partnerships Division helps to build community safety and wellbeing by providing support and services to children, young people and families, including those involved with the youth justice system, remote Aboriginal communities, and people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The division also leads the department's Closing the Gap work. 

Role Details

The Senior Policy and Project Officer is a role within Youth Justice and is accountable to the Manager, Policy and Projects for:
• Coordinating the development and implementation of Youth Justice strategic directions and complex policies and procedures which enhance service delivery.
• Taking a lead role on projects that require high level consultation across DHS and with other agencies.
• Consulting and liaising with stakeholders and managing effective relationships. • Providing support and leadership to other staff as required.

Special Conditions

National Police Check required.
Employment-related Screening Check required.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Experience and/or knowledge relating to the National Redress Scheme and Freedom of Information procedures.
Ability to gather, identify, and analyse, relevant information from a broad range of sources, to prepare factual and accurate, reports and responses is desirable.
Role Status:  Term up to 26/06/2026.
