About the Business
Our Safer Family Services team delivers a range of services, including intensive family support and multi-agency responses, to help children stay safely at home with their families and avoid the need for out-of-home care. They also help families with parenting support, workshops and connection to community events and initiatives to improve child safety and wellbeing.
Role Details
The Manager Aboriginal Practice, Intensive Family Services (IFS) is a role within Community and Family Services and is accountable to the Assistant Director, Safer Family Services for:
• leading the cultural governance of all services delivered to Aboriginal families via the (SFS), Intensive Family Services portfolio, including the implementation of reform initiatives as part of the establishment of the Community and Family Safety System (CFSS) in response to the State Government’s Safe and Well Policy initiative
• managing an Aboriginal Practice team and providing practice leadership, professional supervision, strategic direction, and support to a broad range of stakeholders on matters relating to services provided to Aboriginal families to ensure high quality and accountable services are delivered in the context of identified priorities
• providing oversight of practice, policy, and service development as it relates to Aboriginal children and their families, ensuring the standards and practice of staff meet required professional standards as well as the monitoring and reporting on the operational performance/effectiveness
• providing strong leadership, support and senior level liaison and partnership across the DHS, the Department for Child Protection (DCP), the Department for Education (EDU), the Department for Health and Wellbeing and other key stakeholders is integral to the role.

Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Duration: Term up to twelve (12) months
Essential Qualifications
Incumbent must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Screening Checks
If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check,
which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the
South Australia Police
or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body.
If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS,
including periodic assessment during your employment.
