About the Business

Our Aboriginal Practice and Partnerships team coordinates activities that aim to improve outcomes for Aboriginal clients, their families and communities. This includes informing DHS policy and practice, supporting staff who are Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal who work in Aboriginal-focused programs, and providing direct supports to Aboriginal young people and their families in partnership with community. 

Role Details

The Restorative Engagement Worker is a role within Community and Aboriginal Partnerships and is accountable to the Team Leader, MAYFS for:
• Providing case management to Aboriginal young people and their families, assessing and responding to the individual and complex needs of Aboriginal young people and facilitating positive experiences for young people with parents, family members, significant others and the community.
• Engaging with Aboriginal young people and their families to work together to address issues affecting their at-risk behaviours and assist Aboriginal young people to access relevant government and non-government services for better life outcomes.
• Supporting MAYFS partnerships with the local community to identify issues contributing to offending by Aboriginal young people and developing diversionary local responses, particularly in high-risk locations.

Special Conditions

National Police Check required.
Employment-related Screening Check required.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Role Status: Term up to 26/06/2026.
