About the Business
The Community Visitors Scheme provides independent oversight and safeguarding for people receiving services from DHS, including mental health services. Trained Community Visitors (volunteers) conduct visits and inspections of services to speak with clients about their experiences, make inquiries into care and treatment, and observe service delivery conditions.
Role Details
The Principal Project and Policy Officer is a role within the Community Visitor Scheme and is accountable to the Assistant Principal Community Visitor for:
• managing projects including policy initiatives, both strategic and operational, for the Community Visitor Scheme (CVS) from initiation to closure
• providing expert project/policy advice on contemporary issues and opportunities across the CVS to contribute to efficient and effective work practices
• developing connections and maintaining productive working relationships and collaborations with relevant stakeholders within government and externally
• strategic management of a comprehensive range of administrative, financial, human resource management, systems and related functions to support the CVS.
Special Conditions
National Police Check required.
Employment-related Screening Check required.
Duration: Term up to six (6) months.

Screening Checks
If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check,
which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the
South Australia Police
or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body.
If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS,
including periodic assessment during your employment.
