About the Business

Our Remote and Regional Service Development team collaborates with services and communities to plan, develop and implement place-based responses that support community safety and wellbeing outcomes, with a focus on remote Aboriginal community members across South Australia. These responses include assertive outreach in public areas and tenancies, Return to Country, connecting people to other services, and service collaboration.

Role Details

We are seeking expressions of interest from DHS employees interested in supporting service delivery as a Project Officer and as a Program Coordinator across the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, including opportunities connected to the Mimili and Amata communities.

These short-term opportunities (usually 1 to 2 weeks) provide the chance to backfill APY-based staff and work alongside Aṉangu communities, local staff and service providers to support community wellbeing, service access and facility operations.

Please note Employees successful for this opportunity will remain employed at their current classification level.


Key Responsibilities: 

Project Officer, APY Lands
• oversee the day-to-day operations of the Mimili Maku Accommodation Centre, including bookings, visitor management and site administration.

Program Coordinator, APY Lands
• support the operation and administration of Family Wellbeing Centres in Mimili and Amata, including staff support, data collection and reporting activities
• work with Aṉangu communities, families and stakeholders to promote community wellbeing and improve access to services.

• adaptability and resilience to work independently in remote settings
• experience in community engagement, service coordination or program delivery (desirable)
• strong organisational skills and a commitment to community-centred service delivery.

Special Conditions

Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory Employment-related Screening Check where this is required for the role.
Successful applicant will be required to hold a Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed and maintain a DHS WWCC during employment.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
