About the Business
Our Community and Aboriginal Partnerships Division helps to build community safety and wellbeing by providing support and services to children, young people and families, including those involved with the youth justice system, remote Aboriginal communities, and people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The division also leads the department's Closing the Gap work.
Role Details
The Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner is a role within Community and Family Services and is accountable to the Clinical Manager, Enhanced Support Team for:
• providing advanced clinical expertise within Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre
• providing specialist clinical assessment, intervention and behaviour support planning for children and young people with complex needs
• contributing to practice improvement and service development within Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre and across Community and Family Services
• contributing to planning, program management and resource management in the Enhanced Support Team.
Special Conditions
National Police Check required.
Employment-related Screening Check required.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
The Enhanced Support Team area has several vacant positions for AHP3 and PO3 classified roles for terms up to twelve (12) months in the first instance.
Essential Qualifications
To apply for an AHP3 classified role the incumbent must have an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or a Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education; or appropriate degree which gives eligibility for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia; or appropriate degree which entitles registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or appropriate degree which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
To apply for a PO3 classified role the incumbent must have an appropriate tertiary qualifications in community services, sociology, criminology, justice, correctional practice, social sciences, human services, health or related field.

Screening Checks
If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check,
which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the
South Australia Police
or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body.
If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS,
including periodic assessment during your employment.
